Nerf seems like an odd thing for a grown man to think is entertaining, or maybe not, considering you’re reading this site. Hard to believe as it is, there are some people who think Nerf is only for kids! Not us…and that’s why I’m here to tell you about my Nerf Rival Kronos.

Nerf Rival Kronos
I bought my Nerf Rival Phantom Corps Kronos XVIII 500 (ain’t that a damn mouthful) back in 2018 when the first version were released. I got mine in late April, meaning my blaster has been running for five (5) years. That’s pretty damn good for a toy like this.

The Rival line was both more powerful and accurate than any Nerf guns we’d seen before. They’ve only improved with time. The guns of the Rival series shoot balls made of foam and use a fixed hop-up system similar to how airsoft bbs get further range.
That was plenty of reason for a co-worker and I to pick up a couple of the inexpensive Nerf pistols at a Walmart to shoot our drunken friends with when we got off our night shift.
It was money well spent.
This is the first version we bought: a Nerf Rival Kronos.
The Nerf Rival Phantom Corps Kronos XVIII-500 has a manual safety and an internal magazine with a five-round capacity. The top even has rails on it, in case you feel like attaching a cheap optic like a NcStar red to it (which you should, because it’s cool).

Order An Inexpensive Red Dot Sight
The biggest surprise from these was the indoor accuracy and the speed the foam balls travel, in this case, about 90 fps. This may not sound like a lot of speed when you compare it to an airsoft gun, but remember, those foam balls weigh much more, so the delivered energy is higher.
Something else we liked about it is the subsequent development of a whole aftermarket support industry. Seriously, you can get all kinds of stuff for your Kronos XVIII 500. Speedloaders, folding stocks, you name it. There is also a huge community of people doing custom work on these things. Check out this Battlestar Galactica themes Phantom Corps Rival.

With the spread and increasing evolution of 3D printers, people have taken to making all sorts of accessories and modifications for Nerf guns. In this case, you can get magnetic thigh holsters to feel like Robocop, speed loaders, tactical accessories, and more.
I like the creativity. Maybe I’ll make some completely unnecessary but really badass Nerf Rival mods sometime. Anyway.

Nerf Rival Kronos Deadpool
While the timing of the release was a little odd (the Deadpool Nerf Rival Kronos came out before the “regular” version), we like this sorta-custom job: Nerf Rival Kronos Deadpool guns, perfect for dual wielding!
These aren’t custom jobs like what we mentioned earlier, more of a themed release, and they’ve apparently become some of the most popular in the Nerf Rival line.
